Crafts and hobbies offer an interesting insight into architectural exploration since it dwells with the playful aspect of human experience. Why do people do craft? Why do they have hobbies? It is an existential question that would add understanding to the concept of being human. Four brands, Lego, Amazon, Fender and Yamaha, reflect three traits that would sit high in Maslov Pyramid, namely self actualisation.

In Inclusive and Interactive Imagination, Nur Farzana use the appeal of agelessness of LEGO toy to provide and architecture that is opening and inviting to the child inside each person to explore and engage with the product ans experience. In Both Tech native Nation: Amazon (Mohd Afiq) and Tranquil Rhythm: Fender (Dean Eiman), the designers employ the use of the latest technology in shopping experience to immerse visitors with product experience. In the former, additional focus on community and sense of belonging is enhanced through the use of passive green strategies. The use of immersive technologies in the latter, fits very well with a product that requires certain level of familiarity and connection with its potential, an electric guitar.

In transparent Expression: YAMAHA by Nur Farahana Zainuddin dwells on the idea of social interactions and sensory integration to provide a design that would bring together visitors as a cohesive community that would facilitate product experience n a more enjoyable way.

Persuading consumer to buy a product is difficult in an age of suspicion on capitalism. However, by accentuating the human qualities and positive experience behind these products, the philosophy of the brand itself, would make such a venture a pleasant one, even perhaps provide an escape from the monotony of consumer society.

Inclusive & Interactive Imagination | Lego

Based on Ageless concept, Imaginative Play are emphasised in the design to ensure the desirable experiences for the users. LEGO is a timeless toy that focuses on inclusivity of the client without discrimination on capabilities nor age. Thus, social interaction are induced through imaginative play based on Ageless concept.

However, it is only limited to creativity and interactivity from cultural perspective of the LEGO products (D. Gauntlett, 2014). However, the incorporation of Imaginative Play in the indoor playground, office area, floor plans, sections as well as facade of the design building extends the users’ experience which also enhance creativities among the users. Thus, stimulating critical thinking among each other. Plus, social interaction through the spaces are maximised effectively. As timeless and Ageless the LEGO, it is reflected in the building design through the usage of material of rotatable multicolour dichroic glasses which helps in facilitating in cross ventilation inside the building. Furthermore, extruded planter boxes on building facades are implemented to ensure the building’s sustainability plus reducing carbon dioxide concentration that promotes therapeutic environment.

Therefore, with all the space provided such as interactive walkway, indoor and outdoor playground, office area, roof garden, play room and others were designed attending to the Ageless concept and imaginative play.

For the liveability aspect, the issue raise is fear among the users during the night and ease to elderly movement. By implementing green building infrastructure (BGI) both indoor and outdoor its able to give a pleasant thermal comfort for the users and environment friendly (Flavián, et all. 2020). Pedestrian accessibility and bicycle safety issue can be solve with by promoting a health walking environment and safer bicycle users. Amazon encourage sense of ownership of the local community and providing green infrastructure to filling the societal demand for building sustainable cities.

To archive a great smart technology store for Amazon, consumer needs to experience new product experience compare to traditional store (Poncin, Slim and Mimoun 2014). For my study is to implement experience and feeling through smart shopping, and cashless store technology to embrace the current technology to Shah Alam’s community with Amazon Echo Dots. Amazon playfulness connection of 3 function (private, semi-public and public) that interact by the influence of technology, economy and culture. My concept is executed through the employment of smart shopping user experience, consumer attraction consist of interactive game in each department are or each floor.

Fender concept store focus on incorporating interactive environment for the best user experience. Interactive environment is a technology-based interface that eases user in terms of retail experience, educational and recreational activities. User experience is a holistic journey of a consumer in engaging with products that affects psychological and physical element. These two terminologies help in promoting Fender’s brand identity towards the site while creating a sense of belonging and established a creative and musically educated community.

Fender concept store establishes an interactive retail and educational experience to provide a new spatial design for different types of musical instruments retailing and exhibitions. An immersive virtual environment for educational and retail activities that are being implemented in the design provides an easiness, enjoyment, usefulness and interactivity inside the Interactive powered stores and spaces (Pillai et. al, 2020). As Fender revolves around musical instruments brand, establishing educational and recreational space for the community enhance the entertainment and intellectual attributes of the user and the brand identity. This is done by using holistic approach in designing with several strategies such as building orientation, spatial planning, usage of materials and environmental technology for the user experience and to create a sense of belonging towards the community.

Transparent Expression | Yamaha

Transparent Expression will let users in Shah Alam explore the development of musical expressivity with no limitations and barriers by representing Yamaha Music as the proposed brand. Within this conceptual constraint, Transparent Expression is a product from the combination of two design terminologies: Social Interaction and Sensory Integration. In sociology, Social Interaction is a dynamic, changing sequence of social actions between individuals or groups. Sensory Integration is a dynamic and structured process to achieve and maintain peaceful social relations. Together with social actions, which form the beginning of social interactions.

In a broader view, social integration and social interaction applied in Yamaha Music contributes to a closer social distance between groups irrespective of language, culture through music with more consistent values and practices which ; the emotion regulation strategy is designed as reappraisal boosted happiness, which was unrelated to social inhibition (Duijndam. S. et.al, 2020). M, et. al (2020) states that a continuous dynamic interplay between multisensory integration and decision-making processes with integration of multimodal information taking place during sensory encoding and decision formation. Lastly, atrium is designed to reduce the shape factor for the whole building with minimum glazed area that comply with the building requirements concerning natural light and visual comfort (Danielski. I. Et.al, 2016).
