Computing Services

Computing Services by Nik Fazlysham Nik Mat, Mariani Mohammad Dini, Maram Yasser, Mohammad Ikhram Mat Sobri & Atiqah Farid

Computing Services is an important aspect for residents of Shah Alam. Four conceptual philosophical propositions are put forth under the topic of "Computing Services ." They are "Cohesive & Interactive Integration," "Experiential Linkage," "Interactive Exposure" and "Interactive Rhythm", which respectively serve the following brands: Google, Microsoft, Apple and Adobe. In cohesive and interactive integration hinges on augmented reality (AR) and creating an interactive working environment, while experiential linkage is based on a combination of user experience and “third place", and interactive exposure is used to develop social interaction through an interactive environment. The final proposition interactive rhythm is based on an immersive virtual environment and user experience.

In Mariani Mohammad Dini's representation of Google, she proposes virtual display incorporates the augmented reality (AR) technology into the retail displays of the Google electronic products to create an interactive environment and enhanced retail experience for customers by using holograms. In Maram Yasser's representation of Microsoft. She proposes the Complex as a "third place" cultural hub to support and enhance the community's comfort and engage in social and recreational activities. The linkages enable connectivity of the user with other users, building, site, and technology, through the user's experience. In Mohammad Ikhram Mat Sobri's representation of Apple, he proposes green pocket features as exposure for the public and other facilities to improve the residents' physical and mental health and a pedestrian-friendly environment to promote accessibility for the community. In Atiqah Farid's representation of Adobe, she proposes the integration of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality elements in retail products in order to perceive their unique experiences. It will be simulated in the outdoor and indoor spaces to attract, engage, and motivate customers interaction.

From the conceptual philosophies related to computing services, creating an interactive environment and enhancing retail experience for customers by using the latest equipment and technology will be the way forward.

Cohesive & Interactive Integration | Google

Mariani Mohammad Dini

Virtual Display is a technology that creates a larger screen image than is physically present. Virtual Display incorporates the Augmented Reality (AR) technology into the retail displays of the Google electronic products to create an interactive environment to rethink business programs by using holograms. An Interactive Architectural Environment is any technology-based interface that reacts and responds to user input that instructs, communicates, and entertains as a result of user action to give an enhanced interactive retail experience to customers (Robertson et al., 2007). GoogleALAM COHESIVE CONCEPT encourages different generations of various backgrounds and ethnicities in Shah Alam to be a part of a cohesive community.

The integration of AR technology extends the retail experience and stimulates cognitive aspects of customers (Boychenko et al., 2019). Virtual displays are dubbed the future of retail industry as no physical contact is needed, thus reducing health concerns. It integrates 3D holographic systems and voice recognition to exhibit product information, payment details and to alert occupants without putting physical structures. It can also reduce traffic jams by attracting customers to experience the interactive spaces by walking and encouraging them to park slightly far from the building making it a preferred destination for multigenerational and multiracial interaction.

Experiential Linkage | Microsoft

Maram Yasser

EXPERIENTIAL LINKAGE is a combination of user experience and “Third Place”. User experience is the psychological and physical impact of the building and product on the user. “Third Place” is a place other than home and workplace, where community members engage in social and recreational activities. Linkages enable connectivity of the user with other users, building, site, and technology, through the user’s experience. The “Third Place” can be identified through provision of spaces for activities and recreation-infused productive events.

The concept boutique utilizes an omnichannel approach, as the interlacing of the cultural, educational, and retail interaction will increase and resulting in an impactful design (Alexander et al., 2020). By presenting the sold Microsoft products in an interactive and productive manner, it will get the users emotionally and mentally invested in the products. The establishment of the complex as a “Third Place” cultural hub will help support the community’s overall satisfaction and mental health levels, while the site’s interactivity and permeability will help enhance the comfort of the users (Askari & Soltani’s study, 2019). Technological advancements have caused people to lean towards preferring private activities (Jeffres et al., 2009), therefore this concept boutique adapts accordingly and sustains a simultaneously personal and public experience through its spaces and programs.

Interactive Exposure | Apple

Mohammad Ikhram Mat Sobri

Interactive exposure is a concept used to develop social interaction through interactive environment. Interactivity environment means that both people and buildings have agency, enabling the creation of conversations between the two in real-time through any technology-based interface that reacts and responds to user input. Meanwhile, Social interaction is referring to the relationships established between social groups in heterogeneous societies, through shared values and reciprocity.

The concept store is designed with green pocket features as an exposure for public as the results show that the quality of overall environment, green space and facilities of the park have a positive effect on improving the physical and mental health of the residents (Wanget al., 2020).Integrated messages are used into application and advertising in the building because based on the authors (Richter et al., 2020), persuasive messages integrated in an online game affects positive children’s cognitive responses to the brand. My study also proposes a redesignation of a pedestrian-friendly environment to promote accessibility. Meanwhile, the launch or talk space is proposed which is auditorium as main space of the building. Lastly, implementing the eco composite material, reflective and permeative pavements that can be used to mitigate stormwater management to adapt with the flood situation.

Interactive Rhythm | Adobe

Atiqah Farid

Adobe creative hub promotes an immersive virtual environment based on user experience. Immersive virtual environment or known as virtual reality is a condition of being physically present in the non-physical world (virtual environment) that uses stimuli with VR tool such as sound and images. User experience is the perception of user when using a system or in this project can be known as the architectural strategy, intention including the mixture of virtual or multimedia integration with the biophilic environment.

The integration of Augmented Reality (AR)and Virtual Reality elements in retail products perceives a unique experience and identifies Adobe brand that revolves around creativity and technology. Displays, multimedia presentation, and art installation which are elements of virtual environment are simulated in the outdoor and indoor spaces as it attracts, engage, and motivate user interaction (Muller et. al, 2020). Establishing the creative hub for the community requires barrier-free, interactive activities and surroundings to create a sense of belongings towards the site. An interactive urban activities and plaza located in the building area attracts people from various background and promotes continuous engagement as well as healthy lifestyle in a comfortable open public space (Askari & Soltani et. al, 2019).
