Accessibility & Facilities Development
Spatial Element
The study from group HeART, the recommendation is to implement elements of walkable cities and spatial elements based on Guan et al., (2019) using social and spatial equity assessment of neighborhood retail based on (Liu et al., 2020). Next, improving the existing road layout towards a pedestrianfriendly street, taking into account the psychological factors regarding barriers in the built environment for the disabled persons based on Baris & Uslu (2009).
The study from United Kajang stated that their study to proposes a redesignation of a pedestrian-friendly environment to promote accessibility in Bandar Kajang as an incentive to celebrate walking as urban outdoor recreation and promoting public health. Promoting walkability as a mean of transport to Kajang residence will help to reduce congestion in the city center and improves the accessibility of each facility to the residence.
The heriTECH group also suggesting to design a new layout of pedestrian walkway especially in town to encourage people to not using their transport every day.
Transportation
From the group PresTIGE, the study recommends to use an Eco-friendly transportation such as electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, and promoting shared mobility (i.e. carpooling, and public transports) in order to reduce air pollution. Additionally, my study will follow Sakawi (2011) to use ensure that recyclable waste is disposed of in an eco-friendly way is both beneficial to the environment and cost-effective.
United Kajang’s study also recommends developing a modal shift model for car users to shift to public transport and assessing climate factor on road safety as a mean to encourage in public transport facility upgrade to be more accessible and reliable to Kajang residence.
Based on the heriTECH’s study proposes to provide more transportation infrastructure such as carpark and basement at commercial area to avoid traffic jam.
Environmental Pollution Prevention & Nature Element
PresTIGE suggested to take a deeper look into how the cultural, economic, and educational background change the perception of climatic and environmental issues, and how they can be targeted according to their prevalence, in order to better target the population and have a more efficient method of educating them on the matter. They also recommended to follow Sakawi (2011) to use ensure that recyclable waste is disposed of in an eco-friendly way is both beneficial to the environment and cost-effective.
MILLENIUM’s study proposes to improve human-nature interaction and stimulate public involvement by creating engaging public spaces and physical features that lead to better social experience also can be done as studied.
Next, HeriTECH proposes to use water level as variable for the flood warning alert system and with the method suggested and extending the study to focus more on nearby site project areas.
Based on HeART group recommendation is to collect some data from local people or employer as respondent for effect that they got from water pollution at Langat River. Other than that, recommendation is to implement proper assessments on river revitalization that involves balance of ecosystems. In order to understand the impact of aqualifes would affect the awareness on managing the riverbank and how river pollution causes habitat loss, climate change and biological invasion, biological ecological remediation are recommended to be utilized as the primary technique, and the physical and chemical remediation as the supplementary means.
Urban Heritage Preservation.
Based on the study from HeART recommendations is to implement revitalization of urban and heritage values on the environment in terms of the ecosystem generated that involves solutions for river intervention as well. in order to have adaptive conservation of heritage and edgy in Bandar Kajang, the nature, infrastructure, public spaces quality and environment should be revitalized between social and economic aspects which will give a good effect on society of Bandar Kajang well-being and comfortness.
United Kajang had suggested that among the methods that can be applied are the implementation of the car-free zone in Georgetown and preservation and maintenance of heritage building in Kajang heritage zone as these exemplary action has proven a positive result in the references. A favorable walking environment in Norwegian is also a good case study to be applied in Bandar Kajang to boost the walking culture in the city.
However, MILLENIUM’s study proposes to maintain the culture and historical building that already implement by using field survey, cultural and commercial survey and questionnaires to obtain information on study site analysis. The study will follow Widodo,J.(2012) implement to study the local wisdom from the past experience in order to achieve the sustainability in environmental, cultural and economics aspect specific project in Kajang.
HeriTECH comes with the idea to propose for the implementation of the urban rehabilitation and adaptive re-use approaches on the residential urban heritage. Additionally, the study either recommends repositioning the urban heritage for active mobility and extending the study to cover the residential urban heritage.
Through the analysis and findings from reviews above, few elements are synthesized as follows:
Firstly, based on the issue of the accessibility and facilities development had divided into two part which is spatial element and transportation into the site. For the spatial element, the recommendations mostly proposing an easy pedestrian so that it will triggered people or visitor to more use the pedestrian that is have more walkability. This is also to promote less uses of car and having a healthy access and green environment to the project site. Meanwhile, for the transportation is also the same thing where we should promoting on limiting the car usage in the project site as to promote a friendly site and les crowded of the vehicle.
Second section is about environmental pollution prevention and nature element. This section show that the opportunities of preserving the green and nature element into the project site as to counteract of the business and the massive development around the Kajang to make the project site more iconic and different from other public building where it promote interaction between human and nature.
Next, regarding to the urban heritage preservation. This section basically recommended that we should preserve the heritage of the Kajang as it become the identity of the site. The heritage should be preserve as we do not want the Kajang or the site project lost their identity as part of the site. This also to respect and counteract to the context surrounding the site.
Last but not least, This site project opportunities outlook generally could be concluded that Kajang is a challenging site as there is a few main thing to be considered, yet it is a promising site to be propose a boutique concept mall to enhance the environmental and cultural of the site lively.
